AOP Charentes-Poitou butter celebrates its 40th anniversary this year

The protected designation of origin Beurre Charentes-Poitou has been protecting a recognized know-how for 40 years now. In 1979, Echiré, in association with local producers in the region, initiated the application for protection of this butter of unique quality.

Since their creation, butters with the "AOP Beurre Charentes-Poitou" designation have enjoyed a strong reputation in the world of bakery and pastry. Indeed, the subtle hazelnut taste of Echiré butter brings a unique taste to the dishes prepared by these starred chefs.

To date, there are only three butters with a protected designation of origin in France. This allows consumers to be sure of their geographical origin and the mastery of unique know-how. The oldest is the Charentes-Poitou AOP butter from four departments in the region (Deux-Sèvres, Charente-Maritime, Charente and Vienne).

The AOP Beurre Charentes-Poitou still has many good years ahead of it and Echiré hopes to share its excellence through this page of history.
